Nola Lily

Longing to hear her song
Whispering in my ears
Song of songs, singing Nola Lily.
Adorning our lives,
Our hearts, our hopes,
Shimmering in our souls,
Jewel of jewels, darling Nola Lily
Welcoming this life
Carry our light with you
Glowing in my heart
Light of lights, precious Nola Lily.
Flower of New Orleans
Soft, sweet newness,
Springing upon us,
Dearest of dears, our Nola Lily.

This past week, MBTD and my dear friend, Traci, who happens to be married to him welcomed a beautiful baby into this world.
May she grow to be wise, strong and good.
May the world and its people praise the day she came to them.
May she always know that she is loved and cherished.
May we, her family, always remain worthy of her love and respect.
Insh'Allah, Ameen.

That was absolutely beautiful! I can't stop crying. She is so lucky to have you as her Phupi Jaan. I can't wait for you to see her in person and we can't wait to see adorable Yusuf. Thanksgiving is too, too far. My heart is just overflowing. Thank you, Thank you. Thank God for you! I love you more than words can ever express.
@Traci, I love you, too, sweetie... you've been a great friend, wife, daughter and sister, you make it easy for us to love you. Also, I know you know that Zia's name means "light," but did you know that Mom's name means "jewel" and Dad's means "dear one." That sort of inspired all that.
I thought about using our names' (mine and yours) meanings, but every which way I tried "Warlike" and "Superior" just didn't fit the tone. :D
mashallah, that's wonderful! And how cool that you both have new babies who will grow up so close in age!
Ack. This beautiful post is definitely *not* helping me cure my Baby Fever! I'm excited to be in a spot to have children, but for now, reading about others' babies will suffice. ;)
Beautiful post.
Congratulations to your brother and his wife.
Congratulations to YBTD. And how cool that Yusuf will have a cousin his own age!
Congratulations to them!! I love that a great family is growing bigger. :)
Congratulations, Traci!
(Oh, and your brother, too, I guess, although obviously all he did was watch.)
@nancy, Shukran! I'm excited about the closeness in age, too!
@Bre, Baby fever... hmmm! I know, for me, I always got baby fever when I actually *held* a newborn baby.
@SciFi Dad, Thanks, I'll pass it along.
@Avitable, It is cool, I really hope they become and stay good friends. And, also, N. is going to be even *more* bossy now that we'll have two little ones for her to instruct on the finer points of life.
@Sybil Law, Thanks!
@Miss Britt, Sigh, Zia *never* sits back and watches. I'm pretty sure he delivered the baby, although I haven't had a chance to ask.
@Faiqa, awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
beautiful words. Welcome Nola. We pray for a long, successful, and healthy life for you. Can't wait to see you.
@tariq, <3
Beautiful post Faiqa!
Congrats to Traci and Zia :)
There is something about a newborn baby that makes me weep. In a good way. I could never work in a maternity ward because I would be crying all day long. I think it's the complete innocence and purity of a baby combined with a sense of hope that gets to me.
What a beautiful poem. I hope those two little ones grow up to be great friends. They are blessed to have such love around them!
that was beautiful....
You have such a wonderful talent for writing. This poem is beautiful. I hope this baby and Yusuf will be the best of friends...and that N isn't ::too:: bossy with them :)
