Because I'm A Follower

Everyone who is anyone on the Internet seems to be doing Vanity Fair’s The Proust Questionnaire inspired by my lovely friend Finn, who reminds me of JackieO. but with way more class.  Even when she dresses like one of the People of WalMart.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?
A quiet mind.

What is your greatest fear?
Outliving my kids.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
The need for complete and total acceptance from every single person I meet.

What is the trait you most deplore in others?
The inability to completely and totally accept the power of my awesomeness.  Heh.  No, actually, cruelty.

On what occasion do you lie?

When I have to protect someone else, often from themselves.

What is your greatest extravagance?

My hair.

What is your current state of mind?

Brewing.

What is the quality you most like in a man?

Integrity.

What is the quality you most like in a woman?

Integrity.  (And I find it interesting that the expectation in this questionnaire is that I should have a different standard for men than I do women).

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

Really.  Obviously.  Clearly.  Actually.  Unfortunately.  Dude.  Whatever.  Totally.

When and where were you happiest?

Florida Hospital, Winter Park, two separate beautiful days in the same summer month of  2005 & 2009

Who are your favorite writers?

The ones that write about truth, love and hope.  And Harry Potter.

Which talent would you most like to have?

Singing.

If you could change one thing about your family, what would it be?
I’d have them learn humility.  And then have them worship me.

If you died and came back as a person or thing, what do you think it would be?
Come back?!  Are you kidding??  Like it wasn't hard enough the first time around?!

What do you dislike most about your appearance?
My weight.

Where would you like to live?
Washington, D.C.

What is your most treasured possession?
I find that once you treasure a possession that you become it’s possession.  So, no, thanks.

What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?
Stupidity.

What do you most value in your friends?
Sincerity.

What are your favorite names?
Nuha and Yusuf.  (Gasp!!)

What is it that you most dislike?
Cruelty

What is your greatest regret?
That when I was in my 20's I let other people tell me who I was until I became something that I wasn’t.

How would you like to die?
In faith.

What is your motto?

“If you judge people, you have no time to love them.” ~Mother Teresa

Hmmm, I like this questionnaire. I might have to do it myself.

You overuse dude?? Really? You?

@Kimberly, Dude. I grew up on a beach.

Omg. The further I read the more I was humbled. Wow. *curtsies* then *raises a toast..* I MUST meet you!! Best wishes!

This is one of my favorite parts of Vanity Fair each month. But I'm going to wait to answer the questions for the day that the folks at Vanity Fair come knocking.

November 10, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterKailyn

I'm not going to say it, because it would be tacky, but someone COULD say something about a Muslim woman saying that she wanted to die in faith.

But, I mean, anyone who would say THAT would be HORRIBLE and TACKY.

Clearly.

And now we have proof that you are a better human being than I can ever hope to become, because when I asked myself the quote question, I came up with the chorus to "Sober" by Tool.

Hey, you and I answered some different questions! Awesome.

I know what you mean about your 20's. Who I am today compared to who I was back then? Staggering difference.

November 10, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterHilly

Why were my questions different? It's like that telephone game, isn't it? GAH.
Anyway
Lovely answers, but I expected no less. :)

not even ONE mentioned of me.... i call Bull!

November 10, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterSlyde

@Sybil Law, There are about 45 different questions. If you used VF's automated thing, randomly chose 20.

Jackie O? My brother would be so proud! And I have those huge sunglasses, too. All I need is a Cartier Tank watch and a rich husband. Honestly, I'm flattered.

The man and woman thing is interesting. What you said had crossed my mind when I did this, but I decided to look at it as what attracts me to a man and what would make me want to be friends with a woman.

I don't think you'd be truly happy with a quiet mind, as if you could even have one. That you think, always, is what makes you so amazing.

I'm so glad you did this. I loved peeking into your brain!

November 10, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterFinn

@Bre, I'm looking forward to meeting you someday, as well. I know it's going to happen!

November 10, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterFaiqa

@Kailyn, Maybe I'll be the one knocking from Vanity Fair... it's one of my dreams to write for them.

November 10, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterFaiqa

@Miss Britt, Yeah, it would be extremely tacky given a certain someone's shaming of a certain someone else's desire to dress in a relatively innocuous illegal alien costume for a Halloween party. A-HEM.

November 10, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterFaiqa

@SciFi Dad, OK, first off, I love that song, but... really? You are just "a worthless liar," you are "just an imbecile"? Nah. I don't buy it.

November 10, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterFaiqa

@Hilly, I am obviously a moron and didn't know you could PICK your questions or generate them. I claim PTSD from nursing two children back to health from the flu on this.

November 10, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterFaiqa

@Sybil Law, Thanks... I'm thinking about doing a part II with different questions, but that might be a little self indulgent...

November 10, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterFaiqa

@Slyde, Mother Teresa was code for "Slyde."

November 10, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterFaiqa

@Finn, I'm curious, has anyone ever told you that you sort of look like her? Is it just me?

November 10, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterFaiqa

@Faiqa, I don't think so... I would have remembered that.

November 10, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterFinn

@Finn, Really. Because I think the comparison is totally obvious. If you had dark hair and wore pillbox hats... it would be hard to tell.

November 10, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterFaiqa

You say "fuckin' retards" a lot, too. Oh wait, that's another Faiqa who is in NO WAY the same person as you at all.

November 10, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterAvitable

@Avitable, You, sir, are a bastard.

November 10, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterFaiqa

@Faiqa, If I could, I'd fly out tomorrow! I loved the beach [when Jay and I visited @missbritt in March, I was experiencing the Atlantic for the FIRST time EVER!] and I would totally love to laze about in the sun vs. work a ton. .. Dr. Seuss much?
hahaha.
We'll probably end up doing Spring Break in FL again this year :)

November 10, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterBre

Most of these I've read (all, I think) have had as "greatest fear" something about outliving their children or passing on before knowing their children are secure in life.

Seeing things like that warms me far more than seeing things like, "That Michigan will beat OSU."

November 19, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterdelmer

Hi Faiqa - It's been a while since I've visited your blog. I am back and I read your writings and all I can say is ahhhh. Such inspiration. I hope your family is well. Congratulations on your new baby. I don't know if you had a boy or a girl but you take care!

November 21, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterADRealty

The 20s were overrated.
