About @Faiqa

I imagine you clicked over here from Twitter because I said something incredibly brilliant? That, or I'm quoting the Godfather again. That always seems to rake in the followers.

My name is Faiqa (that's pronounced Fie-kah) Khan (not related to Chaka, but maybe Genghis) and I'm the publisher of Native Born.

Whether through blogging or speaking, I'm intensely focused on guiding Americans through respectful and compassionate conversations with each other with the specific goal of creating a more compassionate society that values differences rather than fears them. I think talking to each other nicely is central to that goal.

I write about a variety of topics on Native Born that pertain to my life and may apply to your life, as well:

Like when my husband became an American citizen

Like why I dislike "corrective ridicule" and find it unproductive

Like why I felt ambivalent about the death of binLaden

Like how I convinced my daughter to give money to charity on her birthday instead of getting gifts

You can read more about my blog at About this Blog and more about me at About Faiqa.

I also write and manage content for the humor site Aiming Low, have worked at the magazine parody site Insert Eyeroll and am the co-host of a thought provoking yet lighthearted podcast about American faith, culture and politics called Hey! That's My Hummus!

In addition to Native Born, I'm the owner operator of an upstart called WiseGal Media Management, a LLC that offers a wide range of management and organizational services to producers and distributors of online media as well as small businesses seeking to streamline their operations. For more information, you can e-mail me at faiqa@native-born.com.

I'm active on Facebook with a personal page and a community page for my blog.

The podcast Hey!That's My Hummus also has a Facebook, iTunes and Twitter presence, so if you're into interfaith dialogue and laughter (and why wouldn't you be?!), please check that out, too.

Now that you have all the information... I'm sure you have great stuff you want to share with me.  I'm looking forward to hearing about it.
